Steve is a partner at Sibley Anderson Lewis. He graduated cum laude from Southern Methodist University School of Law and began his legal career practicing real estate law and corporate finance at the Dallas branch of the international mega-firm Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld. While there, he also served on the Board of Directors of the Dallas Bar Association and was chairman of its Legal Ethics Committee.
After 13 years, the last eight as a partner, Steve felt the need for a change of pace, resigned his partnership, and joined the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office for a year. Sarah Scharnberg Anderson-Of Counsel
After receiving her master’s degree in the classics from Ohio State, Sarah looked around for a suitable job. Finding none, she enrolled in law school at Southern Methodist University, while simultaneously clerking for the soon-to-be international mega-firm, Dallas-based Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld. Following graduation, she joined the firm as an associate in the litigation section.
A few years later, Sarah and some of her colleagues left to form a boutique litigation practice. They enjoyed enough success to attract the attention of yet another Dallas mega-firm, with which her partners elected to merge. Failing to see the point of leaving one mega-firm to just wind up in another mega-firm, Sarah elected to strike out on her own. She eventually was wooed into another then-boutique litigation firm, McKool Smith, which specialized in patent litigation. Over the years, its practice expanded to include all types of commercial litigation and it too became a multi-city mega-firm. Eventually, Sarah attempted to retire in Alpine but was lured back into the law in order to help Sibley Anderson Lewis develop its burgeoning litigation practice. In her very limited spare time, she manages the small vineyard and orchard that she and Steve own.
